Meet Danielle

Board-Certified Adult Nurse Practitioner & Functional Medicine Practitioner

Hello!

I am Danielle.

A board-certified nurse practitioner and functional medicine practitioner who is passionate about optimizing health and cultivating resilience in the body.  I specialize in preconception health and fertility.  I am devoted to assisting others in reaching their optimal health potential, while also growing the family of their dreams.

I completed my Bachelors of Science in Nursing in 2009 at Towson University. I went on to work as a registered nurse at the University of Maryland Medical Center in the NeuroCare Intensive Care Unit. I completed my Masters in Nursing with concentration in Adult and Geriatric Primary Care Health in 2013. I became board-certified as an Adult and Gerontological Primary Care Nurse Practitioner in 2014 by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, and have been in practice since that time.

When I began practicing as a nurse practitioner in primary care, I realized that my conventional medical training provided me with tools to alleviate and manage symptoms of chronic disease, but I was not taught how to find the underlying root cause of the chronic disease.  I became frustrated with the current healthcare model, and felt that I did not have enough time to properly address my patient's chronic healthcare needs. After discovering and utilizing functional medicine for my own health, I became passionate about making this service more available to others.

In addition to my Master’s level training, I am also certified as a Functional Medicine Provider (IFMCP) through the Institute for Functional Medicine.

As a practitioner of functional medicine, I apply a systems-biology approach to identify the root underlying causes of fertility challenges. Combining cutting-edge science in tandem with sacred eastern wisdom allows me to bridge the gap between allopathic and integrative medicine, all while providing a safe and nurturing environment to heal.

What is Functional Medicine?

The functional medicine model is an individualized, patient-centered, science-based approach that empowers patients and practitioners to work together to address the underlying causes of disease and promote optimal wellness. It requires a detailed understanding of each patient’s genetic, biochemical, and lifestyle factors and leverages that data to direct personalized treatment plans that lead to improved patient outcomes.

By addressing root cause, rather than symptoms, practitioners become oriented to identifying the complexity of disease. They may find one condition has many different causes and, likewise, one cause may result in many different conditions. As a result, functional medicine treatment targets the specific manifestations of disease in each individual.
